what is a "good faith estimate?"

Under the law, health care providers can give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your estimate.
For questions or information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visitwww.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

How long are therapy appts?

The first appointment typically lasts 55-60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 45-50 minutes. We will discuss the potential course of therapy during the first session.

You do not accept my insurance; can I still be a client?

Yes. I can provide you with the appropriate paperwork to submit to your insurance company as an “out of network” provider.  You will need to verify reimbursement rates with your insurance company.

How do I find out if I can get reimbursed by my insurance?

When determining if your insurance will reimburse you for therapy, please call your member services representative and ask the following questions:
• What are my mental health insurance benefits?
• Has my deductible been met?
• How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
• What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
• Do you require pre-approval from my primary care physician?
